Evergreen is led by operators who understand the needs of the industrial meat sector and the realities of scale. At Evergreen, we create an environment where talented people can do their best work in service of a more stable food system.

Jim brings nearly 30 years of experience across the pharmaceutical and food industries, with leadership roles in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, validation and metrology. His background includes greenfield startups, facility renovations, quality system design, inspection readiness, and remediation programs. Previously he led complex capital investments at Resilience, Sanofi, and Genzyme. Jim is a US Navy veteran and holds degrees from Grantham University and Penn State.

Eric Schulze, Ph.D., is a scientist, executive, and former FDA regulator specializing in food policy and biotechnology. He is a scientific leader in cultivated meat who helped establish many of the field’s foundational practices in cell and product design as well as regulatory policy. At UPSIDE Foods, he led the scientific, regulatory, and market strategy that brought the first US cultivated meat product to market. In 2025, he helped secure the first FDA clearance for cultivated pork at Mission Barns. Previously, Eric served at the FDA and advised national science policy through the National Science Foundation and National Academies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.

Michael Carew has over 17 years of experience in biopharmaceutical operations, engineering, quality, and project management. He focuses on right-first-time manufacturing, hands-on project execution, and practical engineering solutions that support operators and customers. His experience includes process startup, equipment and process qualification and validation, operational and capital project management, and quality systems. Michael has worked with organizations including Bristol Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Resilience, and DPS Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin. Michael and his wife Michelle have two children. Outside of work, he enjoys sports and building LEGO with his kids.
